DESCRIPTION:

“YOU CANNOT STOP TIME.

TIME CAN STOP YOU.”

 
This was the main idea of my project. In early production, “memento mori” was what the image is based on, and still can be applied to it. Man hopes to stop time. However, it is hopless, and they will end up hurt in the end that time stops for nobody. The clock represents time, and the bloody and bruised hands show man’s fruitless efforts. The broken thread represents the thread of life. The grey to color gradient was to demonstrate the time passing.

PRODUCTION NOTES:

For my Latin project, I wanted to do another digital painting. One that wouldn’t involve black lines in the way. I wanted to do a picture of constellations and add Nyx (the goddess of the night) being all graceful and stuff. Really, I just wanted to mess with some nebula. Eventually, I found a picture of an hourglass and decided to work on Khronos instead.

At first, I PERSONIFIED him. I tried to make him…well, his back at least. It had his butt crack and all. I also tried to draw this huge grandfather clock I screwed up a lot with it. It just looked awkward and I just suck at drawing really. Perhaps I should think about it from a different perspective.

Then I thought about making from that person’s POV.  Then I came up with this.  Too bad I couldn’t get an hourglass to fit in. It took me several hand models to come up with the right one I wanted. At first, I was going to make the hands the focus and the clock the item out of focus. When I was buying a frame for my undeveloped project, I saw this beautiful clock in Wal-Mart that had Roman Numerals and decoration. I based this clock on that one.

I used origami textures, and the grudge textures are from both Livejournal and Deviantart. My folders are too unorganized to figure out the original people, sorry.  Splatter Brushes are not mine either.

…I really liked the outcome for this one. It was cute and fun to color…and I’m pretty satisfied witht the color pallet. I tried experimenting with more textures in the picture which was pretty okay. It’s most obvious in Miharu’s muffler, but if you squint, you can probably see a bit on the leather part of his jacket that’s holding the buttons. owo I kinda want a jacket like his.

It’s been a while…okay, not really. Maybe I lied when I said it was going to be my last coloring for a while. Maybe I didn’t. I just lost motivation since I have no tablet but I colored something with mouse anyways since It was Gintoki and Miharu’s birthday on 10/10. I finished these on time, but I didn’t post it on here on time. WAAAAAY to busy juggling fandom and school work, y’know?

Test drive for the mouse after what…over a year? It’s been a while since I’ve used the mouse for coloring. Depeneded on the tablet. It’s a bitch. My hand cramped so fast…but I think it’s pretty good for a mouse coloring. I’m not to fond about the picture I colored though…but it’s hard to color JUMP manga like I keep on complaining about…

Maybe ever since I’ve started coloring manga, I’ve always dreamed of coloring some LD. I’m not into CLAMP so much (but I still want to catch up on xxxHolic…), so I didn’t have much determination to color any of their works.

What I changed was probably Kazahaya’s eyes. Maybe I’ve said it enough, but I don’t like “dot” eye pupils. I have a hard time trying to color eyeballs with them…so I just erased it and tried my best to make CLAMP-like eyeballs. It looks more charming, neh? Maybe I should’ve put some blushing…but I didn’t want to make it look more gay than it already did. :P

8D Yeah, when I get the chance, I want to color some Kagura from Gintama. She’s so kickass~

I felt like challenging myself and resisted using the smudge tool.  So yeah, this picture doesn’t involve smudging at all!  Just blended with glaussian blur.  It still seems pretty half assed to me…and I just suck at coloring hair now.  I think I got clothes down pretty okay…still not there though.  x_x  I’m just losing it.

I wanted to work with the clouds again like I did with my past Gareki picture. :D These turned out to be more fluffy looking imo. HAHA, YOU SEE ANYTHING SPECIAL IN THE SKY!? Totally messes up the meaning to picture. It took a long time for me to be satisfied with everything. It took about 2 hrs to do Gintoki’s hair. PERMS ARE EVIL. Same with the skin since I just suck at coloring profile. It was fun to do Gintoki’s kimono. It just turned out darker than everything else OTL.

Doujinshi are actually easier to color than the original. Probably I just have issues with coloring JUMP manga. Well, I wanted a new Friends Only banner, so I just colored this one since Okita is…well Okita, and the KEEP OUT tape made it useful so I don’t have to type in “FRIENDS ONLY BITCHES.” There was the Hijikata version, but it looked too intense…and How could I not color Okita!? Yeah, he looked more ukebishounen than he actually does…but I think it was just the eyes. ):

Probably the most problematic part of this picture was the hair.  I spent most of the time on it and had to do it over 3 times before I was satisfied.  Second to that was his clothes.  Yeah, it’s difficult to color black suits that have that kind of light…you don’t even really know what to do with it.  I’m not that experienced yet, and I’m too lazy to even care about it!

PFFFFFFT, Well, I hope you enjoy.  :D  And yeah, that doujin is an excellent yaoi one for those Hijikata x Okita fans~

Haha…probably not one of the best I’ve done, but I did this in about an hour. I say it’s not bad…but it was kinda easy. I spent most of the time on hair because I totally forgot how to color hair (as in my previous colorings this year didn’t have much to do with it).

So I colored this pretty…obvious…err…”omgiwannacolorthatsplashpage!” page from this one manga Karneval.  I swear, Gareki looks like the love child of Raven (Pandora Hearts) + Hijikata (Gintama) so hot!  I probably would’ve had this finished in May, but I was too busy watching Gintama.  Two weeks and I’m already in the 100.  That’s pretty slow for me…and I’ll shut up now.  Gosh, why can’t I ever write like this on LJ?

Well, I really wanted to color something from Karneval…and I wanted to do do clouds. There was this one other one with Gareki for chapter 9, but I’ve already tried coloring it twice…and it started to frustrate me…so I gave up on that for now. I think I did a pretty good job with this one…and I believe I did a pretty decent job on light sources…it’s not right on, but I think it’ll pass. I think it was pretty fun doing the goggles and the leather (courtesy of http://www.textureking.com). I also like how you can see the clouds through the goggles~ I even tried to make the blood more logical…and this one seemed to make sense. Overall, this coloring was fun to make. And yes, don’t you think I did a pretty good job on the clouds? I did it all by myself with this one tutorial on DA AHAHAHA~  Well I feel proud of this one.  I didn’t have to edit the colors at all~

…You know what? Screw logic! I know blood is supposed to wash off in water…but let’s say that…it’s flesh and blood? W/e. And I’m pretty sure a Noel would be dead if that much blood spilled…but…this is almost as logical as there are holes in the roof giving off a bunch of light that there’s no specific light source XD3

:D I must say I’m proud of this one…T_T sometimes, I can be very slow with figuring out some things…like brushes. Heh. Well this is actually my second time coloring this picture. The first one that I finished last weekend didn’t really please me, so I decided to color it again. This one is WAY better than the first.
